August 4, 2022, Election Results Statement:
I’m really grateful for all who came out and participated in the election – and for those that supported and encouraged me.
I’m honored to be elected by the citizens of Townsend.
I’ll always do my best to be a good listener and act in the interests of our community, the Peaceful Side of the Smokies.

Hi, I’m Don Prater
Thank you for visiting my website.
Currently, I am on the Townsend Planning Commission and am excited to announce that I am running for Townsend City Commissioner.
About Don page.
Townsend’s City Commissioners are a part of the City Council. We have five Commissioners elected by citizen vote. A Mayor and Vice Mayor are selected from the City Commissioners. Each member of the City Council serves a four-year term and commission seats are staggered so that three seats are elected and then two years later the other two commission seats are elected.
The City Council is responsible for setting policies, approving the budget, appointing the City Recorder, and enacting local laws, resolutions, and ordinances. A majority vote of the Council is required to pass such laws. The Council also makes appointments to certain citizen advisory committees.
I have been working hard for Townsend preparing a new Community Plan to guide city officials while making decisions on how we will grow. See the article below from The Daily Times.

I had a great time meeting Townsend voters and listening to what matters most to them. Thank you for your support!
